Must You
Supplement?
"The American Medical Profession has killed
more American with a single sentence than all of the foreign armies of the
world and that sentence is ' You can get everything you need from your
four food groups.'"----Dr. Joel Wallach,1996
When we were growing up we were
told that if we ate a well balanced, disciplined diet, one including foods
from each of the four basic food groups, we could get all the nutrients we
need to stay healthy and prevent illness and disease. The wisdom of
achieving health by eating foods from the four basic food groups has
traditionally been embraced and rarely questioned by the American public.
This is largely due to the four basic food groups idea being endorsed and
promoted by the mainstream medical establishment in America and to this
idea being taught to children in the American public school system.
Dr. Joel Wallach was one of the
first health practitioners to question the wisdom of this approach. He
conducted hundreds of human autopsies while working as a comparative
researcher at the National Institutes of Health. These
autopsies revealed that the vast majority of deaths were caused by
diseases brought on by nutritional deficiencies. This was a startling
revelation! How could it be possible that despite the
recommendations of the medical doctors and a concentrated effort to
educate Americans about the necessity of eating a well balanced diet most
Americans were dying of nutritional deficiency diseases?
Dr. Wallach believed that the
answer lied in the nutritional content of the foods we eat. His research
and his knowledge of the research conducted by other leading scientists
led to four revolutionary discoveries which Dr. Wallach has summarized on
his famous Dead Doctors Don’t Lie audio tape:
A.
There are far more nutrients essential to human health than was
previously believed. In fact there are 90 essential nutrients
and these nutrients fall in to 4 major categories: the amino acids,
the fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. The minerals comprise 60 of
the 90 nutrients and fall into three sub-categories: 1> the major
minerals---the minerals most Americans are already familiar with such
as calcium, potassium, etc; 2> the trace minerals--i.e., minerals
such as selenium and copper which Americans are becoming increasingly
familiar with due to recent research demonstrating their importance;
3> the rare earth minerals-minerals which are difficult to detect
due to their size and scarcity yet which play a role, often as a
catalyst or enabling constituent in the biology of the human body.
B. A
deficiency in any one of the 90 essential nutrients causes, on
average, ten different diseases. For example, Dr. Wallach found
that a deficiency in calcium can cause muscle cramps and twitches,
osteoporosis, hypertension, arthritis, loose teeth, gingivitis,
insomnia, kidney stones, bone spurs, heel spurs, lower back pain, and
PMS.
C. Foods
grown in American soils are remarkably deficient in the minerals
necessary for human nutrition. This fact is evidenced by Senate
Document 264 and a large body of research presented at the 1993 World
Health Summit in Rio De Janeiro. Further evidence of the extreme
difficulty of getting all of the nutrients we need solely from the
food we eat was reported by Peter Jennings in an April 7,1998 episode
of World News Tonight in his summary of the research findings of the
National Institute of Medicine. Even the government is beginning to
concede that we are living in an age in which we simply can not get
the nutrition we need, either vitamins or minerals, from the food we
eat.
D Minerals
serve as catalysts, facilitating our bodies ability to use the other
three types of nutrients. In other words, without a full
complement of EACH of the 60 essential minerals our bodies are unable
to fully utilize the amino acids, fatty acids and vitamins we give it
on a daily basis!
The sum total of Dr. Wallach’s
research led him to one vitally important conclusion:
"YOU MUST
TAKE MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS ON A DAILY BASIS TO ACHIEVE VITAL HEALTH AND
LONGEVITY!!"
On his famous Dead Doctors
Don’t Lie tape, Dr. Wallach describes three different kinds of
mineral supplements: metallic minerals, chelated metallic minerals and
organic colloidal minerals*. Metallic minerals are very similar to the
minerals one finds in rocks and soils and are the type one would find in
most of the popular tablet form mineral supplements such as Centrum,
Centrum Silver, Theragram and One-a-Day. Chelated minerals are metallic
minerals wrapped by an enzyme or an amino acid through a process called
chelation. Chelated mineral supplements are generally much more expensive
but also much more effective than metallic mineral supplements. Organic
colloidal minerals are minerals which have been processed through a plant,
hence the term "organic." Organic colloidal minerals are found
naturally in fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts (though, as is noted
above, at alarmingly low levels). They are, therefore, in the exact form
that the human body is designed to use. Organic colloidal minerals are
somewhat more expensive than chelated minerals but are vastly more
effective than either metallic or chelated minerals for two very important
reasons
The first is increased
absorbability. When a mineral travels from the soil into the
roots and stems of a plant it undergoes a biochemical transformation.
Specifically, the mineral’s electromagnetic charge is changed from
positive to negative. When a mineral’s electromagnetic charge changes
from positive to negative our bodies ability to absorb that mineral is
enhanced dramatically. This is because our stomach and intestinal lining
have a positive electromagnetic charge. Therefore, when a negatively
charged organic colloidal mineral comes in contact with our positively
charged digestive tract, a natural gradient is created across which the
mineral is absorbed directly and expediently into the blood stream. In
fact, organic colloidal minerals are anywhere from 90--98% absorbable. By
comparison, chelated minerals are only 35--40% absorbable and metallic
minerals, because they are not bound to a carrying agent are only 5--10%
absorbable. To make things worse, our bodies ability to absorb metallic
and chelated minerals decreases as we age, making us more susceptible to a
myriad of mineral deficiency diseases.
The second benefit is non-toxicity.
The same electromagnetic transformation which makes organic colloidal
minerals extremely absorbable also makes them non toxic. Because organic
colloidal minerals are very similar to the minerals found in the foods we
eat they are easily recognized and eliminated by our bodies when they are
not used. The body has a much more difficult time recognizing and
eliminating metallic and chelated metallic minerals and therefore tends to
store what it does not use in the body’s liver and fatty cells. Metallic
minerals in our body's cells can eventually build to toxic levels and act
as stressors on our body. For example, excess metallic calcium can cause
anorexia, depression, irritability, muscle weakness, psychosis, heart
arrhythmias, fat intolerance, gastric ulcers, growth retardation, kidney
disease, liver impairment. Excess metallic iron causes anorexia,
dizziness, fatigue and headaches.
Another related benefit of using
organic colloidal minerals is there potential for cleansing the body of
previously stored toxins and heavy metal minerals. Over the course
of a lifetime a person is exposed to environmental stressors
such as pollution, radiation and chemical pesticides which cause a
disturbing array of chemical toxins to be stored in the fatty tissues of
our body. There is evidence which suggests that organic colloidal
minerals, via a process called "ionic exchange" have the ability
to flush out the stored toxins so that they can be eliminated.
Organic colloidal minerals, therefore, actually have a dual benefit.
Not only are they much less likely to accumulate in the body, they may be
useful in terms of chasing toxins out of the body.
*Whenever the term "colloidal
minerals" is used in association with Dr. Joel Wallach or his famous
audio tape Dead Doctors Don't Lie, it is important to note that Dr. Joel
Wallach is referring to organic colloidal minerals. Organic colloidal
minerals are minerals that have been processed through a plant, a fact
which greatly increases the rate at which the human body can absorb these
minerals. Dr. Joel Wallach is NOT referring to colloidal minerals mined
from inorganic sources such as seabeds or clays. Many of Americas largest
colloidal minerals companies sell inorganic colloidal minerals. The
